|Today, representatives from NTEU and the NRC signed the revised Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Tony Reardon, our recently elected President of NTEU National, signed on behalf of the Chapter. Vic McCree, our new Executive Director of Operations, signed on behalf of the agency. Both commented on the constructive nature of the interest-based bargaining which resulted in a revised CBA that both NTEU and the agency feel is a “Win-Win.” Several other members of the NTEU National staff attended the signing including Tim Hannapel, National Counsel for the D.C. Field Office, who attended for Peyton Lawrimore, our Chapter 208 Field Representative who was unable to attend but was on the CBA negotiation team, Jennifer Harling, Assistant Counsel for Negotiations who was the chief negotiator on the CBA negotiation team, and Vel Hernandez, who is a communication specialist for NTEU National. The revised CBA is effective and will be uploaded to our new website as soon as possible.
And speaking of the new NTEU Chapter 208 website, it has been launched and we look forward to your comments on what you like and what you don’t like about it. We want the website to look good but most important, we want it to be useful and easy to use. You can access the website from the Employees Resource Page.
The remainder of the week, NTEU officers and stewards look forward to meeting you to discuss those issues that are important to you as an NRC employee. To do that, we have arranged several events:
Tomorrow, Tuesday, October 27th, from 11 to 1, NTEU invites you to join us for lunch in the TWFN Exhibit area. This is a great opportunity to talk with your chapter leaders. NTEU will provide lunch but you need to BYOB!
Wednesday, October 28th, from 7 to 9:30, NTEU will again be in the Exhibit Area providing breakfast for you. We hope you will stop by to talk about your issues and concerns. If you have not yet registered to vote, the League of Women Voters will also be in attendance in order to help you with that process. Remember that our representatives – which you elect – are a major factor in every aspect of your career as a federal employee from your salary, to many of your working conditions, to your retirement benefits.
Finally, on October 29th, from 5:30 to ?, NTEU invites you to join us for a Happy Hour at the “On the Rocks” restaurant/bar across the street at the Marriot Hotel and Convention Center. You can get a ticket for a drink from a union representative at the event. Appetizers will also be served.
What a great way to celebrate the signing of our new CBA, meet with your union officers and stewards, share conversation with your colleagues, and usher in the cooler weather as well. Please join us for these events. We look forward to meeting you and talking with you.
If you have any questions, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or stop by the union office at O 1 G22. Thanks.
In Case You Missed It: The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s annual Veterans Day Program will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2015, from 1- 3 p.m. in the TWFN auditorium.
